on renovating a house

Did I happen to say that we renovated our house? Extensively? I have to laugh now, but believe me those were some hard times. Lots of blood, sweat and tears. The blood and sweat from my husband, from me the tears. Just kidding, kind of. Actually I'm not kidding at all!

We bought this house after about a year of marriage( In that first year we also bought and remodeled a little rental house in the city). We were counseled that as newlyweds we shouldn't try to build in the first year, it would be to stressful. I don't know why we thought renovating would be any different!

Yes, that is a pair of pink flamingos.

So this old two story farmhouse came on the market, the price was great, after all it was a fixer - upper!
I was ecstatic, I've always loved old houses and this was big and had a lot of character. We were to find out later just how much character...

  1. Wow, I'd forgotten just what kind of shape it was in when you got it. We drove by last week on our way to town, what a difference it is now! It looks so pretty, really looks like a farm house now, not one that someone tried to disguise in the 70's. I really love what you all did with this house. I know it was just as much work, if not more, than building a new house. I looks beautiful now!
