Daffodil Day

It's become a rite of spring time, the day that the children and I load up baskets and tromp to the woods to what we call the "daffodil meadow".

I can just barely see the yellow from our house.

There's an old crumbling ruin of a cottage, and in front, loads of old, old, daffodils.

They are very small, delicate flowers. It takes a while to collect a nice amount.

I just love this old place!

Look closely and you'll see a bit of old flowery wallpaper.

I wonder if that was the kitchen.

Snow last weekend, and now, it feels like spring. Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes!

  1. Wow Melissa, we used to do that when I lived in AR. We had some old home sites that we had tons of daffodils around. Reminds me of growing up.
If you want to sell some of those I would love to get some from you some time. Not in the near future though. Trying to not tackle too much with new baby, knee surgery for Ches, and starting back to school.

  2. I would love to be able to stuff a pitcher with lovely daffodils.
I use mine sparingly as I'm not as blessed to have a meadowfull of them.
A small vase of a few at a time, sometime with paperwhites or narcissis brings the springtime indoors. In a few generations perhaps mine will spread that abundantly and my great grandchildren, or someone elses will pick them.
