I Am With You

Just a little while ago, I got a call from my daughter. ( the kids went to lunch with their dad )

" Hi Mom! We're going flying!! We're on the runway and we're going to take off in a minute!"

So I promise to go out in the yard and wave, and sure enough, I hear the drone of the plane about five minutes later.

As I'm standing there waving at the plane I'm thinking wow, my whole life, everything I live for, work for, love -  is up in that tiny plane.

I must say, I had a moment of fear. Life is so fragile, I'm so afraid of losing them.

I am rather a fearful person. I fear heights, I fear snakes, I fear sickness, some unknown tragedy, conflict, pain, I am at times afraid of the future.

Some of these I struggle with daily, others not so often.

As I watched the plane bank, circle the house, and then straighten and head out of sight I felt God's love, and then his peace surround me.

"Fear not, for I am with you..."

" Behold, I am with you, even to the end of the ages."

I'm so glad for His presence in my life.

The Girls

They started off so small...

Now they're almost full size.

I wish I had a better picture of them running, they put their little heads down and and do a fast shuffle/waddle, it's comical!

They have learned how to roost. And the red one on the end - turned out to be a rooster!

He spends his time practicing his crowing. He hasn't mastered it yet.

They eat a lot of chicken feed. It's getting expensive. But I'm hoping for eggs by late summer!

This and That

Life has gotten busy here at Cass House. In a good way, of course.

There has been lots of time spent outdoors, and also time spent working on my big project that seems to never get finished. (Which I will share with you all, I promise.)

Due to all the rain, the lettuce has been amazing. I was afraid it would bolt so I cut most of it and forced it on my neighbors gave it away. Now with the temperatures rising we'll have to see if more will grow or if it's just too hot.

Remember this? I planted these beds not too long ago, and now these vegetables are growing their hearts out.

This is the first year I've had any luck with cilantro. I love to run out and cut some when I need it.

These are my blackberries - I took this picture a few weeks ago, now they are much thicker and blooming.

This will be the first year for them.

We can hardly wait for berries- looking forward to blackberry ice cream!

Flower Power

I found these planters at a yard sale last Saturday.

I'll probably paint them white someday, but for now I'm happy to get flowers in them.

I'm loving what they do for my front porch!

Now, if I could just get the band board painted, redo the porch floors, make more flower beds, and on, and on....

My Latest Hobby

This is not my latest hobby, though I do really like it.

My old step trashcan had broken once again and so it was time to replace it.

It was full of trash when we put it out with the rest of our trash to be picked up.

I had to laugh when I went out a while later, instead of hauling it away, the trash man had carefully emptied it and left it for us.

I guess he didn't realize we were throwing it away.

I can only imagine what he was thinking, like, man, they are getting lazy, making me empty every trash can in the house.

This new can was not cheap and when I unpacked it, I was disappointed to find a dent in the side.

But customer service said to email pictures of the damage and they will send a new one, and the best part is, I don't have to return the old one.

So after I get the new one, my husband will fix the dent in the old one and it should be as good as new.

So, two for the price of one, not bad, I say!

Oh, and all the desk clutter? Just keeping it real - I wouldn't want any of you to think I have a perfect house or anything  :)

Summertime must be around the corner...

...when I start posting pictures of little boys eating popsicles.

Early One Morning....

Early one morning we slept in a little, because it was the weekend, and we could.

Then we left a messy, neglected house behind and set off for the local coffee shop.

Where the Momma and Daddy had some much needed coffee and the Littles shared a chocolate milk.

With that satisfied, we wandered over to a nature trail for a little hike through the forest, admiring the fallen logs, ivy covered trees, wild blackberry blooms and everything fresh and green.

I was blessed with this bouquet of lupines, picked especially for me by my husband, at least I'm pretty sure they are lupines.

I haven't seen them since I went to Newfoundland as a teen.

Peonies

The peonies are blooming!

They are at the top of my favorite flower list!

May is such a lovely month with everything in bloom, I only wish it would go on for several more months....

Flowers

My little girl loves to pick flowers for me. She is constantly bringing something, "For you Momma".

And she doesn't really know or care which are weeds and which are "real" flowers.

Through her, I'm learning to notice and appreciate the beauty of  these common plants.

Yesterday, with the help of her Daddy, she brought me breakfast in bed.

And then, a dozen red roses, because they looked like "bride" flowers.

She brought this momma a lot of happiness!

Yellow Sunshine

Love this - I just discovered it.

To me it is the perfect summertime picnic drink.

I think I could even decorate a room around it.

And these irises are blooming their hearts out.

Happy Tuesday!
