Daffodil Day

It's become a rite of spring time, the day that the children and I load up baskets and tromp to the woods to what we call the "daffodil meadow".

I can just barely see the yellow from our house.

There's an old crumbling ruin of a cottage, and in front, loads of old, old, daffodils.

They are very small, delicate flowers. It takes a while to collect a nice amount.

I just love this old place!

Look closely and you'll see a bit of old flowery wallpaper.

I wonder if that was the kitchen.

Snow last weekend, and now, it feels like spring. Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes!

February Snow

We finally got a good snowfall, never mind that the forecast is calling for mid sixties in a few days.

I enjoyed lighting all the candles in the living room and watching the snow fall.

Little Brother has wanted snow all winter!

Later, he fell asleep in my arms. I'm so glad he still occasionally does that!

It's the simple things....

....in life, that can bring so much happiness.

He spends hours playing with his tow truck, hooking it to anything that he can find.

Yellow

We had a relaxing, encouraging weekend!

My husband was at the grocery store with the children, and asked them what "Mom" would like. Little Brother said, "Momma needs flowers!"

Slay me!
So sweet, and he is fast learning the way to a woman's heart!

Sunday morning I made banana bread using the 'Mitford Cookbook'.

Love the series and this cookbook!

Enjoyed the rest of the day spent with friends!

This monday, I feel ready for whatever the week brings.

Hope your weekend was peaceful and renewing!

What I've been up to....

Yesterday I had the privilege to go through an old house and here is some of what I found:

We strung up a clothes line to dry the handkerchiefs and linens we found.

The red coat reminds me of Peter Rabbit's little blue coat.

An old apron.

More linens.

Stack of children's books.

Two sets of vintage goblets.

Some fun old lamps, these need shades and cords, another project.

And my favorite find, old, gilded frames.

I have yet to go through these stacks of books, they're still in the back of the van.

So, yes I've been having fun lately!!

Monticello Milk Crates

I found these two crates on Craigslist last Saturday. They are from an old, local dairy and are very sturdy.

They were however, very dirty. I spent all of an afternoon scrubbing them with degreaser and even pressure washed them.

Now, I need to find a more glamourous spot than the half bath for them.

Our neighbor heard that I like old things and gave me this old metal sign that he found in his field.

Interesting how the phone number on the bottom is only three digits.

I love it!

Now, I just need to find a way to make all my "new" things fit in my home.

My husband just installed some trim around the kitchen/laundry room door and I'm excited to paint that!

I'm loving the progress on some of these details that never quite got finished when we renovated the house.
