Big Sister at Lido Beach

It's so hard to get pictures at the beach, the kids just want to run and play.

So I bribed them with the promise of ice cream at Big Olaf's if they would be good.

Then while I was focused on Big Sister, Little Brother got wet.

Salt water hair do.

We stayed till the sun was gone, then took our very sandy selves to Big Olaf's were I didn't realize until too late that they only took cash. And I didn't have any, of course.

They were very nice and said to come back and pay next time. So, we get to go again! But I felt like a criminal and couldn't enjoy my cone.

Another dress for Big Sister

I finished this dress a while ago but just now found time to get pictures.

It's the same pattern as this one.

Isn't she sweet?

We are waiting out a thunderstorm here in Florida.

Then hopefully we'll walk to the park, there are fountains to splash in! Of course I'll take pictures.

Happy Tuesday!

Bathroom Remodel Part 1

So, this is our work project while we are down here.

The house is old and the upstairs bath was very badly needing a renovation.

It's so tiny and we had to totally gut it and haul everything down the narrow stairs and out to a trash pile that is rapidly growing.

This was at about 9 am.

Old painted tile.

At 11am when the kids and I got back from the beach, this is what it looked like.

And it was just the beginning of the removing of layers.

Breaking up the cast iron tub in pieces to get it out.

More layers removed.

This is dirty work, believe me!

Strip of beadboard waiting to be uncovered!

My camera card has some problems. These pictures were taken with my phone, sorry about the fuzziness!

Sights around town

One thing I love about where we vacation is that we can walk pretty much wherever we want.

We arrived and got unloaded, then walked up the street to dinner and I couldn't stop taking pictures.

It's tropical here. The skies are an amazing blue.

Luscious blooms.

We heard music and followed it.

Even the utilities are coastal colored.

I'm likin' this old van.

Almost home.

And back where we started.

Up next:

A bathroom remodel.

Gardening and a late snow...

I bought more plants this year than ever. Before, I've always planted my spinach and lettuce in seeds.

This year I wanted to just get them in the ground and keep it simple.

Some may call this cheating, but I don't mind, someday I'll raise everything from seeds, but for now I'm happy to let Lowes do all the hard work.

The Pilot built these three raised beds out of fence posts. I really like having them close to the house, but they are also close to where the deer come out from the woods.

So, we had to let the gardening go for awhile, because the other day we woke up to snow.

It was quite pretty, actually, and of course I had to tromp around and take pictures.

I love the snow on the forsythias!

The snow was gone by the afternoon but it has been colder and right now it's raining.

The rain should be great for the garden!
