Projects and Plays

There is a project going on here at Cass House, one that I have high hopes for but am afraid to blog about for fear that it won't turn out as I expect.

It involves this piece of furniture.

I'm excited and will share pictures of it's transformation.

Right now it's sitting on the back porch about half way done. I've had to put it on hold while trying to mend my wrenched shoulder.

35 is not that old - my body has disappointed me. I still think I should be able to do anything I want and then I find out differently.

I was only trying to hold up a cedar log with one hand while screwing in a bolt with the other hand. Anyhow, it was for a good cause, now my blackberries have the support that they need. And I'm getting by on ibuprofen and ice.

Big Sister had her first little musical play at school the other night. It was so fun to watch and even though she just sat with a bunch of other kids singing and doing hand motions I was as proud of her as if she were the star.

Chandelier, Dear

Now that I have this beauty in my room I feel that must speak with a French accent, sort of Fancy Nancy style.

Seriously, I may never turn it off. And it's fun move it a little and then watch the sunlight dance across the walls.

I found it in Florida just a few blocks from where we were staying.

The best thing is, I only paid $50 for it. And with a few extra parts we were able to get it up and working.

Many thanks to my husband for making it happen. I love it!

Angel Wings Heart's Love

She was so sad when she couldn't keep the frog that she found one evening.

 So I brought her this.

She came up with the name herself.

And I think it's really sweet.

The Love of God (for me)

While at the beach I had time to sit and watch this great ocean, and to marvel at it's vastness.

My mind always goes to the Creator and I'm amazed that he made this for me, and gave me the ability to enjoy and experience it.

There are many, many things about this life I'm living that I do not understand,

but of this I am sure,

the creator of the universe loves me!

I thought of this song (or verse of a song) and wanted to look it up and share it with you.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

Straw Hats

The children found some old hats in the closet and had fun playing dress-up.

This was while we were working on the bathroom(in Florida) and they had to spend some time indoors with us.

 So pretty.

This shot, while blurry, does something to my heart. He is so adorable.

Since we've been home, I've given him a summer haircut, and now he's so cute in a totally different way.

This was playing camping - glad they have big imaginations!

Farmer's Market

On our last vacation morning I slipped away to the farmer's market. They block off quite a few blocks for this every Saturday morning.
I enjoyed strolling around with my coffee in hand.

There are so many things to take in, I loved it!

I'll just let the pictures do the talkin'.

All in all, a lovely way to end our time in Florida.

Just seeing these pictures makes me want to go back!

Bye now.

Bathroom Remodel Part 2

So, after hauling out loads of layers we were finally able to start putting it back together.

The fun part.

New floor,

new beadboard walls,

new wiring,

and plumbing,

and shiny new tub.

 Tile going in.

By the way, I love beadboard. Something about the way it is installed and is ready to go, it doesn't have to be prepped like sheetrock.

And it so quickly covers up a lot of ugliness.

She's always eager to help!

This is what he does best, one would think he's done it a time or two before.

Pre-finished wood floor = instant gratification!

And there you have it!

I know, the beadboard isn't painted, partly because we ran out of time and partly because it hasn't been decided what color/finish to use.

So, we went from this :

to this :

Old lights and stained glass...

Just some things that I am admiring in this old house...

I want a chandelier like this for my bedroom - actually there are several shops within walking distance that I think may have old lighting. I'm hoping to check them out before we leave.
You never know...

There are four of these windows - in the laundry room.
When the sunshine hits them they are beautiful. Makes doing laundry so pleasant.

My favorite.
